Tα Γενικά Αρχεία του Κράτους και η Ελληνική Αρχειακή Εταιρεία με την υποστήριξη της Ελληνοαμερικανικής Ένωσης και την συμβολή της Βιβλιοθήκης της Βουλής των Ελλήνων παρουσιάζουν την έκθεση αρχειακού υλικού «Αρχεία, πολίτες και πολιτικοί - Μια άλλη ανάγνωση της σχέσης πολιτών και πολιτικών»
Τα εγκαίνια θα πραγματοποιηθούν τη Δευτέρα 21 Οκτωβρίου 2013, στις 20:30, στην Γκαλερί
Κέννεντυ της Ελληνοαμερικανικής Ένωσης (Μασσαλίας 22, Κολωνάκι). Η έκθεση θα διαρκέσει μέχρι και τις 9 Νοεμβρίου 2013.
Μέσα από ανέκδοτο αρχειακό υλικό που καλύπτει το χρονικό διάστημα ενός αιώνα και προέρχεται από τα αρχεία πολλών πολιτειακών θεσμών και πολιτικών προσώπων, οι σχέσεις των πολιτών με τους πολιτικούς διαβάζονται, για πρώτη φορά, αντίστροφα. Διαβάζονται, δηλαδή μέσα από τη σχέση που συντηρούν οι πολίτες με το πρόσωπο των πολιτικών και τους εκπροσώπους των πολιτειακών θεσμών, όπως π.χ. τους Προέδρους της Δημοκρατίας, τους Πρωθυπουργούς αλλά και τα Ανάκτορα. Αιτήματα, από την καθημερινή ζωή που προέρχονται από πλήθος ανθρώπων, όλων των κοινωνικών τάξεων, καταθέτοντας τις προσδοκίες τους, τις ανάγκες τους και την «άποψή» τους για τις υποχρεώσεις των πολιτικών και της πολιτείας.
Το αρχειακό υλικό που εκτίθεται αναδεικνύει τη ρητορική με τον οποία οι άνθρωποι «λένε» τα προβλήματά τους, και αντιλαμβάνονται τη σχέση τους με την πολιτική και τους πολιτικούς. Αναδεικνύεται έτσι ένας σχεδόν μεταφυσικός και θρησκευτικός λόγος, που απαιτεί από τους πολιτικούς, την παρέμβασή τους. Αντίθετα μάλιστα από ό,τι συνήθως πιστεύεται, η ικανοποίηση των αιτημάτων είναι μια αυθόρμητη συμπεριφορά όπου αποτυπώνεται ως ο όρος ενός άτυπου και οιονεί αυτονόητου συμβολαίου που ενώνει τις δυο πλευρές.
Το αρχειακό υλικό που εκτίθεται αποτελεί μιας πρώτης τάξεως αφορμή για την επαναπροσέγγιση του πολιτικού πολιτισμού.

Archives, Citizens and Politicians
The General State Archives and the Society of Greek Archivists, with the contribution of the Library of the Hellenic Parliament and support of the Hellenic American Union, present the exhibition of archival material entitled “Archives, Citizens and Politicians: Another Read of the Citizen-Politician Relationship”.
The exhibition opening will take place on Monday, October 21, 2013, at 20:30, in the Hellenic American Union Kennedy Gallery (22 Massalias Street, Kolonaki). The exhibit will remain open through November 9, 2013.
By means of previously undisclosed archival material spanning over a whole century and tracing back to the archives of various state entities and political personalities, a reverse read of the citizen-politician relationship is attempted for the very first time. More precisely, the relationship is being read from the aspect of the bond citizens actively maintain with politicians and representatives of state institutions such as Presidents of the Republic, Prime Ministers or even Royalty as persons. Material exhibited includes requests about people’s everyday lives, submitted by various individuals of all walks of life who state their expectations, their needs and their “opinions” about the duties of politicians and the state.
The archival material on display sheds light on the rhetoric people use to assert their problems and how they understand their relation to politics and politicians. The material reveals an almost metaphysical and religious speech that calls on politicians for intervention. In fact, contrary to popular belief, granting requests is a rather impulsive behavior reflecting the terms of an informal but quasi-implicit contract binding the two parties.
The archival material included in the exhibition constitutes a first-rate opportunity for reexamination of our political culture.
